唐津城

豊臣秀吉が側近の寺沢広高をこの地に封じ朝鮮出兵の名護屋城の跡詰として築かせようとした城。関ヶ原の合戦後、名護屋城の解体資材を活用し、1602年から7年の歳月を費やして築城した。

Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who unified Japan in the Sengoku (Warring States) period, ordered his close aide Hirotaka Terasawa to stay in Karatsu and to build a new castle in order to back up Nagoya Castle, where solders were dispatched to Korea. In fact, the construction started in 1602 after the battle of Sekigahara and took 7 years to complete by using some materals from Nagoya Castle, which was dismantled by the new Tokugawa shogunate.
